Policy Options for Improving Women’s Working Lives

Although the federal government’s long-awaited 2022 Jobs and Skills Summit is done and dusted, the journey to improving women’s working lives is far from over.

On 31 August, the Sydney Policy Lab partnered with Australia and New Zealand Third Sector Research Inc (ANZTSR) to deliver a webinar on women and insecure work. Speakers were invited to explore policy options aimed at improving the economic security of women employed in insecure work: casual, contract work, and temporary work in low-paid and feminised sectors.

Elizabeth Hill, Deputy Director of the Gender Equality in Working Life Research Initiative at the University of Sydney, was joined by an impressive line-up of speakers on the panel, which included:

  • Fiona Macdonald, Policy Director at the Centre for Future Work
  • Jane Corpuz-Brock, Former Executive Officer at the Immigrant Women’s Speakout Association
  • Kristin O’Connell, Coordinator of the Antipoverty Centre
